This special project began in early June 2026, when the Moonbeam Room teachers identified the children’s strengths in music, movement and performance, and introduced the ‘Garage Band’ program to enhance this interest and skill.
We experimented with the digital instruments and a combination of melodies from a range of instruments, creating our ‘Instrumental track’, with timing, beat and musical pattern making.
We then began to think about lyrics and how we could adopt rhyme.
Before long we had a song! The song is called ‘Fairies’, inspired by the children’s ‘Fairy Garden’ here at Highland Grove.

Over the next few weeks our song grew to an exploration of costume design with illustrations, live performances, stage production and music videos.

We even welcomed a parent with a recording artist career who was able to share what this really looks like!

In September we visited Gosford Regional Library, where we became recording artists and recorded the song in a real studio!

The children were overcome with wonder, relishing in this special experience together.
We now have a song that will belong to these Moonbeamers forever.
